AI Search Monitoring: A Playbook for Agencies
Give each client a clear scope, reliable observations and a useful review.
Agree the scope with the client
Document brands, markets, buyer tasks, engines, prompt volume and reporting period. Decide who approves prompts and factual corrections. Keep access separated between clients and avoid entering confidential customer information into external prompts.
Use a repeatable review template
Check run completion before interpreting metrics. Include representative answers and source links, not just screenshots of a score. Report the same definitions each period and annotate changes in coverage or product settings.
Assign implementation responsibility
A finding should specify who will edit the page, provide evidence or check a disputed product claim. Explain which work is included in the engagement and which needs another team. Do not sell guaranteed citations, fixed recommendation positions or an assumed revenue lift.
